I. What does it include? Why would you want to use it? Here are some of the features:
- Many language databases available, including: French-English, Spanish-English, German-English, Italian-English, Portuguese-English, French-Spanish, French-German, English definitions, French definitions, and more (seeour products).
- Many language databases offered in two formats, "Complete" and "Compact," so you can choose how much of your Palm memory to dedicate to the application. (Compact versions contain fewer entries and less grammatical information.)
- Hundreds of thousands of indexed items, including over a hundred thousand translations, and tens of thousands of secondary entries. Thousands of technical terms.
- Indications of literary, slang, and vulgar usage, and indications for usage (including synonyms, accompanying prepositions, general categories, and more).
- Automatic verb conjugation (for many languages)
- The ability for users to create and edit/delete their own entries, personalizing their dictionary.
- VFS support (expansion modules, etc.) for newer Palms!
- Select a word in other applications and tap the Find button (magnifying glass) to find this word in Accio.
- Forward and Back buttons, for retracing your searches.
- Lightning fast!
- A "Go!" button, for translating or defining selected text.
- Copy and paste between Accio and other Palm applications
Download the Accio for Palm program, including the language databases you want.
Use your Palm Hotsync software to install Accio.prc and the .pdb file(s) included in your download.
Note that once you have installed "Accio.prc" you need not re-install it if you add further languages. The same application handles multiple dictionary databases; change databases by clicking on the language menu (top right of the Accio screen).
Many dictionaries include .pdb files in "complete" or "compact" formats; feel free to download either one at any time. Use "compact" if you are short on space in your Palm or Palm compatible.
If you have an expansion module (Memory card, Flash module, SD card, etc.), you may copy Accio databases to the card, using fewer than 70 K of RAM for the actual application. (See your HotSync software for instructions for installing files to expansion modules. For cards with directories, be sure to place the databases in the "Palm/Launcher/" directory.)
Minimum configuration: Palm OS 3.5
The Accio dictionary for Palm costs US $19.95 (+VAT in Europe) PER LANGUAGE DATABASE. After payment you will receive a registration code to enter when you launch Accio on your Palm.
